Clarification on why we use AI Generated Images
We apologize for not being clearer on our intention.
Dear Psych of Tech Newsletter subscribers:
Several of you commented on the AI-generated image in the prior post. We wanted to clarify our stance on it. Our use of AI generated images does not constitute our endorsement of them. Rather, we use these images, in part, to illustrate the flaws that still exist in such technologies, from the spelling errors in the image of a previous post to the potential perpetuation of stereotypes (as was apparent in the picture from the prior post). Indeed, we thought the contrast between the diversity of our award winners with the stereotypes promoted by AI was noteworthy and further illustrates the need for increased research on how to improve the human-technology relationship. However, we should have been explicit about our intention. We will endeavor to be clearer about our purpose in using AI-generated images (e.g., as an example of AI's flaws vs. as endorsement) in the future.
Thank you for your comments, and we hope to keep the conversation going.
